Mobility

Ski tourism and ski races encounter substantial mobility challenges that significantly impact the environment, with transportation responsible for approximately two-thirds of their emissions. The reliance on travel not only increases carbon footprints but also strains infrastructure, highlighting the need for more sustainable practices. Decarbonizing transportation is essential for enhancing the sustainability of ski tourism.

Promoting the use of high-speed trains over flights, increasing public transport options, and encouraging carpooling and ridesharing can significantly reduce emissions. Additionally, providing shuttle services and installing electric vehicle charging stations can facilitate eco-friendly travel. By implementing these strategies, the ski industry can not only decrease its environmental impact but also foster a more sustainable and responsible approach to tourism and ski races.

Regarding the race event and their planning, strategies such as utilizing virtual meeting technologies to reduce the necessity for physical travel, optimizing journey plans, and limiting the number of attendees can help mitigate these issues.
